Atlantis' Window on the World
Solar panels on the Hubble Space Telescope make for unique window shades in this scene photographed from the flight deck of the Earth-orbiting space shuttle Atlantis. This image was taken on flight day 5 of the 11-day mission to repair and upgrade Hubble.

Just Breathe...
Funny thing...life.
Just because you've worked hard for something...
Just because you think you've earned it...
Just because you feel like it's your turn...
Just because you want it more than anything...
Just because someone tells you there isn't anything you could have done any differently to make it any better...
Doesn't mean it belongs to you.
I should have known better! I should be thankful for the things I do have. I'm sad I wasted so much of my day pouting over things I can't control. Today my best still wasn't good enough. I can only go forward from here.

STS-51L
The Challenger.
I was in second grade when this happened. I lived in Orlando. Watching the space shuttle launch is something I got to experience many times while growing up in Florida.
1/28/86 is the one that always stands out in my head. It must stand out in the minds of many. That video footage was shown over and over and over again.
RIP Francis R. Scobee, Pilot Michael J. Smith, Judith A. Resnik, Ellison S. Onizuka, Ronald E. McNair , B. Jarvis and Sharon Christa McAuliffe.

Ouch
I awoke this morning fully clothed and with a throbbing headache. My first instinct wasn’t for any of the things my body was craving but more “shit, I hope I closed my tab”. I thought that even as I stumbled into the wall, which luckily broke my fall.
I did close my tab in fact I was very generous. I will add that this bar doesn’t even serve tequila. I vaguely remember my partner driving a car. This is odd considering neither of us drive. Turns out it was his friend’s car.
Thankfully, this is out of character for me.
So why drink so much? For me it is because it always seems like a good idea after I’ve had a couple. Plus, slaying evildoers is a stressful job. And drinking is something I do only once a month, if that.
I was grumpy all day. I hate that.
I have high hopes for tomorrow.

Why I learned how to use chopsticks.
I am a dork of the highest extreme, but people don’t believe me when I tell them that. My friend’s partner lived in Japan for a while and I realized that I liked sushi once while I was at their house. At this point, I had no idea how to use chopsticks and didn’t really give it a second thought. Until weeks later when that same friend invited me to go out for sushi.
We went to this place where everyone sits at the same table to eat. My first attempt to learn how to use chopsticks was not very good. My friend cleverly described it as “Do you remember when you first learned how to drive a stick shift and the first time you stalled at a light?” I do remember that moment; I must have stalled in that intersection 10 times. I left that sushi place determined to learn how to use chopsticks.
A few days later, that same friend gave me some chopsticks from her house. I spent the whole day with those chopsticks. Needless to say, I can now go eat sushi without the fear of eating utensils.

What does one write about for their very first post?
I had sushi with a friend today and then somehow got suckered into watching an episode of Star Trek. I would even say that I enjoyed said episode, much to my surprise. The household had adopted a cat which had burrowed itself into their box spring mattress. I believe that it was afraid of the two dogs and cat who were already living there. I love animals and I have two dogs myself. They are bundles of unconditional love.
